What Does An Average, Perfect Day Look Like To You (this is mine…)

Sometime ago, I sat in a coffee shop (in Sheffield) and imagined what my average, ideal day would look like.
Of course, not every day would look like this.
Life be life, so an average day doesn’t equate to every day.
But an average everyday allows you to craft a few rules.
A blueprint, if you will, of what you would like to do with your life.
Mine… may not match yours.
In fact, I dare say it doesn’t.
And this may change for me over the years.
After all, I only know what I know right now.
Who knows what I’ll know in a few years.
Who knows what I’ll desire.
I don’t.
You don’t.
But that isn’t to say there isn’t value to define your perfect, average, everyday today. A day that makes sense to you. A day that allows you to do what you wish to do.
Where are you…?
Who are you with…?
Who do you serve…?
How do you serve them…?
What impact do you have…?
What impact does this impact, impact…?
Why do you want all this…?
How does it look, taste, and smell…?
There are no rules.
There’s no right or wrong answer.
Your life is yours alone.
And to an extent, those you spend it with.
But by thinking about this, you begin to fathom your lifestyle.
Your ideal lifestyle.
A version of ‘lifestyle’ that makes sense to you.
Because once you have this… you can piece it together.
How much money do you need…?
How close are you right now…?
Does your current work suffice…?
Is the impact your making now in alignment…?
It’s hard to know where you’re going until you figure out where you are.
But likewise, it’s hard to know where you are until you appreciate where you’re heading.
You only get one life.
You aren’t given a work one and a personal one.
You aren’t give a family life and “hustle” life.
You get one.
Single.
Simple.
Your job is to make it count.
Your duty is to align your various guises.
Balance doesn’t occur through segmentation.
It happens with appreciation:
… of the one life you have.
… of the people in it.
… of your work, impact, and so much more.
… of your time, and how you spend it.
… of you, and what makes you so bleeding special.
As for me and my perfect everyday… well, I do not live it.
Yet.
But I will. I strive for it. I commit to figuring it out more each day.
Hard?
Yes!
Simple?
No!
But in a way, it is.
Where I am now is fine.
Where I will end up will be fine.
Things may change, and this too is fine.
Yet that perfect everyday drives me… pulls me… motivates me…
I love what I have, and try to remind myself of this each day.
But there’s more to come:
… for me.
… for my family.
… for my work.
… for the legacy and impact.
For this single, simple life I lead that is oh-so important.
The question now is, what does yours look like?
